Korean Independence Day
March 1st is a significant day for Koreans, marking the country's independence from Japanese rule. It is a day to honor the independence activists who fought for Korea’s freedom and to celebrate the nation's sovereignty. As a Korean, I wanted to commemorate this day in my own way, so I decided to create a poster. However, I felt that a traditional approach would be too cliché. Instead, I chose to design a poster with a completely opposite aesthetic, blending modern cyberpunk elements with traditional Korean motifs. To achieve this, I incorporated glass-like textures and mechanical elements to evoke a futuristic feel while also integrating traditional patterns and classical Chinese characters that Koreans used before the invention of Hangul. This combination allowed me to create a unique visual representation of March 1st, bridging the past and the future in a way that reimagines tradition through a contemporary lens.
